Because of my fittness level and my weight and th fact that I am the most impatient person that ever existed, I decided to follow the Couch to 5k Training Program. It's simple, straight forward and completely doable. It's not easy, but I am up for the challenge.
It consists of 3 mile walk/jogs to eventual full 3 mile jogs over the course of 8 weeks, training 3 days a week.
The other part of my routine includes Nia. Nia is Fusion of Eastern and Western movement arts and free movement, focusing on moving in a way that it pleasurable to your body. Nia is a mind/body/spirit connection to your body. A holistic approach to inner healing and outer conditioning. Don't judge the book by it's cover, this stuff will kick your butt and somehow leave your refreshed and energized too! I will be doing this with a class 1 day a week. If I crave more I have a video at home too.
A Holistic Approach: The Nia Way (info from site)
- Nia applies a somatic (body-based) approach to learning, transmitting cognitive information while engaging the whole person via physical experiences.
- Body is used for exploration, discovery and sensory-based learning.
- Mind is used to focus, witness and direct attention.
- Emotion is used to create a personal connection to experience and is the conduit of body-mind connection.
- Spirit (that which is unique to each person) is used to direct personal power, foster self-healing and expand each person's potential.

Nia in Action:
I thought about including weights as well. I don't know if I will be able to fit in the time for actual weights but some resistance and stretch will also be included in my routine.
